Locals Stunned: Massive King Cobras Mate Openly on Roadside Near Valentine's Day
Local residents discovered two massive king cobras, each approximately 3-4 meters long, mating openly on the roadside near Khlong ChaMuang Road in the Ban Phaen Din Samoe area of Khlong Thom District, Krabi Province. The event is considered exceptionally rare, as large king cobras typically inhabit dense forests and rarely appear in community areas. The mating behavior, known locally as 'neck wrestling', is a natural process during their breeding season. The video was posted on social media with a romantic caption about eternal love, drawing widespread attention and comments about the local Southern Thai belief that king cobras are sacred 'guardian spirit' animals. The king cobra breeding season occurs between January and April each year, and due to forest reduction, these snakes are now more frequently seen in forest edges, mountain areas, and local rubber plantations. During the mating season, king cobras are particularly aggressive, and people are advised to exercise caution and contact relevant authorities if encountered.
