Prasert Denies DSI Testimony Leak, Affirms No Harm to Thammanat
On February 19, 2024, at the Pheu Thai Party headquarters, Prasert Chantaravangtong, the party's secretary-general and former Digital Economy Minister, addressed reports of leaked testimony to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) regarding an eye scanning and crypto token business MOU between the Digital Ministry and a Singapore company. Prasert refused to disclose details of his testimony, noting the investigation is ongoing with DSI and the National Anti-Corruption Commission. He firmly stated his testimony contains nothing that would damage Lieutenant Colonel Thammanat Prompao, the Deputy Prime Minister and Agriculture Minister. Prasert emphasized that the MOU's details have been misunderstood, insisting it was about digital technology development to make Thailand a regional digital economy center, not about eye scanning. He viewed the document's leak as a political maneuver, suggesting someone was attempting to create political complications.
