Shocking Incident: Gunman Shoots Iraqi Tourist to Death in Phuket
On February 7, 2024, Police Lieutenant Thammnathorn Meechina from Pa Tong Police Station was notified of a serious shooting involving a foreign tourist. The incident occurred opposite the C&N Hotel on Siri Raj Road in Pa Tong, Kathu District, Phuket.
After receiving the initial report, Police Major Kornkrit Khankrua was informed, and an investigative team immediately rushed to the scene. The victim, Ameer Mundher Mamood, a 24-year-old Iraqi tourist, was already transported to Pa Tong Hospital before police arrived.
At the crime scene, officers found bullet casings and blood stains. The victim was wiping a motorcycle before an unidentified suspect wearing a motorcycle helmet approached and fired multiple shots, critically wounding him.
Surveillance footage revealed the suspect arrived on a black and red Honda Click motorcycle around 5:47 PM, wearing a black t-shirt with a white K-like screen print, blue jeans, a windbreaker, and sneakers. Police are urgently investigating and coordinating with the Iraqi embassy to notify the victim's family.
