Russian Spiritual Tourists Participate in Coffin Lying Ritual to Enhance Life Fortune
On February 16, 2024, at Luang Por Pak Daeng Temple in Nakhon Nayok province, a special spiritual ceremony was held where participants lay in coffins to symbolically confront and transform their life's destiny. The event was led by Phra Rachapromkhun, the provincial Buddhist leader of Wat Phra Mane, with two additional monks conducting the ritual. Russian tourists and Thai visitors showed great interest, with five coffins prepared for the ceremony. Participants were blessed on their foreheads, palms, wallets, and mobile phones. The purpose extended beyond fortune-telling, aiming to help people understand the inevitability of death. Monks chanted blessings and performed rituals to remove negative energies, with participants positioning themselves with heads first facing west, then turning east.
