Armed Robber Steals Gold and Cash from Prominent Gold Shop in Sukhumvit Mall

A lone gunman robbed a famous gold shop in a Sukhumvit area shopping mall, stealing 149 baht of gold and 170,000 baht in cash before fleeing. On January 31, 2024, at 11:30 PM, Police 191 received a report of an armed robbery at a gold shop inside a shopping mall on Sukhumvit 50, Phra Khanong, Khlong Toei, Bangkok. Initial reports describe the suspect as a male wearing a long-sleeved blue shirt, long pants, and a cap. He used a gun to threaten staff and steal gold weighing 149 baht and approximately 170,000 baht in cash before escaping. According to the gold shop employee, the suspect entered the store while they were closing, doused the area with oil, and brandished a gun to demand gold and valuables. After obtaining the items, he immediately fled. Senior police officials, including Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom, have ordered immediate investigation and tracking of the suspect. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage and investigating potential escape routes.
