Court Sentences Activist Arnon Nampa and Associates to 2 Years 8 Months for Royal Defamation, Acquits Sai Jarenpura
The Criminal Court convicted Arnon Nampa and six other activists for royal defamation related to a public gathering in November 2020 near Phahonyothin Road and in front of the 11th Infantry Regiment in Bang Khen district. The group of approximately 2,000 protesters did not notify authorities as required by law. The court found four defendants (Arnon Nampa, Somyot, Nattathida, and Fah) guilty under Article 112 of the Criminal Code and emergency decree provisions. Each defendant was sentenced to 2 years and 8 months in prison and fined 10,200 baht. Defendant Pritsana Chiwarak (Penguin) was excluded after fleeing during the trial.
