Man Storms House of Political Figure, Fires 4 Shots While Claiming Possession by Divine Spirit
On February 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM, police were alerted to an intrusion at the residence of Chonswat Asawahhem, a well-known politician in Samut Prakan. The suspect, Pornthep (last name withheld), 48, drove a Toyota Yaris into the property, claiming to have been hired to dig, and then fired 4 shots into the air.
After house staff challenged his presence, the man continued to act erratically, threatening with weapons. Police tracked him down in a nearby village, mobilizing over 20 officers to control the situation. During the arrest, the suspect displayed confused behavior, claiming to be possessed by a divine spirit.
Police seized three firearms, including two blank guns and one .38 caliber locally made weapon, along with some crystal methamphetamine. The suspect resisted arrest, forcing officers to use a stun gun and pepper spray to subdue him. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the incident.
