Ministry of Transport Opens New Terminal at Buriram Airport, Preparing for MotoGP 2026
Danai Ruangsorn, Director-General of the Department of Airports, announced the unofficial soft opening of the new passenger terminal at Buriram Airport on February 6, 2026. The initial service will welcome passengers from four Thai AirAsia flights on routes between Don Mueang and Buriram. This marks a significant step in upgrading the airport's infrastructure to support both domestic and international travel, with a focus on preparing for the upcoming MotoGP event. The new terminal covers 25,500 square meters, can handle up to 1,000 passengers per hour, and is expected to accommodate approximately 2.8 million passengers annually. The airport is specifically preparing for the MotoGP 2026 event, which will take place from February 27 to March 1, 2026, with an anticipated 120 flights and over 20,000 passengers.
