Intellectual Property Department Launches 2 New Features to Expedite Trademark Registration
Oramon Saptaweethong, Director-General of the Intellectual Property Department, revealed that trademark registration requests in Thailand continue to increase annually due to growing business awareness about trademark protection. In 2025, Thailand received 55,668 trademark registration requests, an 8.51% increase from 51,303 requests in 2024, with 40,063 trademarks successfully registered, up 36.19% from the previous year.
The primary reason for trademark registration rejection is similarity to existing registered trademarks. In 2025, 4,484 applications were rejected due to resemblance to existing marks, causing applicants to waste time and money on resubmissions.
The department has developed two new AI-powered features: 'AI Image Search' and 'Trademark Checker'. These tools help entrepreneurs efficiently prepare and verify trademark applications by analyzing image similarities and providing real-time recommendations. Both services are available 24/7 at no cost through dedicated online platforms, streamlining the trademark registration process.
