Government Lottery Office Explains 2D Barcodes: Detecting Fake Tickets But Not Owners
On February 18, 2026, Lieutenant Colonel Nun Sansanakhom, Director of the Government Lottery Office, revealed that current 2D barcodes and barcodes on six-digit lottery tickets are designed to prevent ticket forgery. These markers allow buyers to initially verify ticket information such as draw date, lottery number, ticket set, and volume. While the barcodes help buyers quickly check lottery numbers through the GLO LOTTERY OFFICIAL app, they cannot identify who purchased or owns the ticket. Buyers are advised to sign the back of tickets, write their contact information, and take photos as proof of ownership. Lottery winners must sign or provide fingerprints as additional evidence.
