Complaint: Police Demand 24 Million Baht Bribe to Clear Gambling Website Case, Arrest Warrant Still Issued
On February 12, Achchariya Ruangrattanapong, chairman of the Crime Victim Assistance Club, brought victims of a gambling website case to file a complaint with Police Region 7 Commander Lieutenant General Pisit Tanprasert. The complaint involves Ratchaburi City Police Station officers who allegedly issued an improper arrest warrant, improperly pursued the case, and demanded over 20 million baht to clear the charges. The incident occurred in April 2023, with the victims from Chiang Mai being accused of involvement in an online gambling website. Despite paying 24 million baht in cash to clear the case, the victims still faced additional arrest warrants. Achchariya requested a change of investigating officers and an investigation into the police team's conduct, highlighting concerns about the transparency and legitimacy of the case.
