Trump Advises Iran to Change Regime, Sends Aircraft Carrier to Middle East
President Donald Trump stated that changing the governing system in Iran would be the best possible outcome, noting that 'for 47 years they have been talking, and meanwhile, we have lost many lives.' Trump refused to specify who should lead Iran but suggested that 'there are people' who could replace Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The move comes as the US sends a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East to increase pressure on Iran to reach a nuclear agreement. Trump announced that the USS Gerald R. Ford, the world's largest warship and the newest US aircraft carrier, will move from the Caribbean to the Middle East soon. The aircraft carrier will join the USS Abraham Lincoln, which is already stationed in the region. The Pentagon sent this ship in January after the US threatened to attack Iran to stop a massive crackdown on protests that may have resulted in over 7,000 deaths.
