Lawyer 'Aun' Blasts Election Commission Secretary, Demands Resignation Before February 8 Election
On February 3, 2024, at the Election Commission (EC) office, Phattraphong Suphaksorn, known as Lawyer 'Aun' from Buriram, officially submitted a document demanding the removal of Sawaeng Boonmee from his position as EC Secretary. He cited repeated election management failures from 2019 to 2024, including issues with senatorial elections, complaints, advance voting, document processing, and referendum conduct. Lawyer Aun argued that while the 2017 Constitution prevents direct removal of election commissioners, the secretary position is a contractual employment role. As taxpayers and sovereign citizens, people have the right to demand accountability. He characterized keeping Sawaeng in his position as 'wasting taxpayer money' and urged the EC to consider removing him before the upcoming election to preserve the organization's credibility. Additionally, Lawyer Aun submitted documents requesting investigation of recently circulated political conversation video clips, asserting they are genuine screen-recorded phone conversations with clear participant identification and not artificially manipulated.
