Relatives Mourn as 62-Year-Old Monk's Body Found After Drowning While Repairing Water Pump

A 62-year-old monk from Uthai Thani disappeared while repairing a water pump motor in a pond near the temple's living quarters. At 12:30 PM on February 7, 2569 (2026), Police Lieutenant Charoen Trongklang from Uthai Thani Police Station was notified of the monk's body being found in the water behind Thammosophit Temple (or Khong Temple) in Uthai Thani province. Rescue teams from Uthai Thani city retrieved the monk's body, which was located about 15 meters from the pond's edge. Rescue personnel and diving teams from the Uthai Thani Provincial Administrative Organization had been searching since the incident occurred. Chada Thaiseth was also present during the search operation. Initially, officials transferred the body to Uthai Thani Hospital for forensic examination and legal procedures before releasing it to the family for religious funeral rites.
