6 Vietnamese Escape Scammer Gang in Cambodia, Seek Help from Thai Military

On February 18, 2024, Police Colonel Montri Jina from Ban Tha Lueang Police Station in Trat Province escorted 6 Vietnamese nationals to the provincial prosecutor's office. Navy Captain Thammanoon Wanna revealed that 13 Vietnamese workers were attempting to escape after being forced to work for a scammer gang in a Cambodian village for over a year. Initially promised a monthly salary of 12,400 baht, they were instead forced into scam operations, physically abused, and had their passports confiscated. During their escape attempt through the barbed wire border, only 6 managed to reach Thai military personnel, while 7 others remain unaccounted for. The group was charged with illegal entry and will face legal proceedings.
