Sukhothai has lost a significant Buddhist monk, Phra Sukhavarothai, also known as Luang Por Jong Jattamalo, the abbot of Sangha Ram Temple in Ban Dan Subdistrict. He was a renowned religious figure widely respected for his administrative and development skills. He founded a Buddhist school, established a Buddhist park, and was the chairman of the creation of a large Buddha statue for Sukhothai province. Originally named Jong Suk-im, he was born on October 2, 1934, in Ban Dan Subdistrict, the eldest of seven children. He completed fourth-grade education at Sangha Ram Temple school and was ordained as a monk at age 20 on April 22, 1954. Throughout his career, he held numerous administrative positions in the Buddhist ecclesiastical hierarchy, rising to become an advisor to the regional Buddhist council. Known for his skills in craftsmanship and religious dedication, he was a respected figure who developed multiple temples and received several ecclesiastical ranks during his lifetime.
