Live from the Shrine - Mahachulalongkorn University Surin Campus Installs Statue of Phra Phrommawachiromoli
On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 09:30 AM, Somdet Phra Maha Theeracharn (Prasit Khemangkaro), the Chief Monk of Northern Thailand and abbot of Wat Phra Chettupon, presided over the installation ceremony for the statue of Phra Phrommawachiromoli (Thong-yoo Ñāṇavisuttho), a former vice-rector of Mahachulalongkorn University's Surin Campus, former advisor to Regional Monastic District 11, and former abbot of Sala Loi Royal Temple.
The ceremony was attended by senior Buddhist monks, including Phra Phrommasitthi (Thongchai Sukhñāṇo), the Regional Monastic Leader, university officials, local government representatives, and disciples. The event was organized to honor Phra Phrommawachiromoli's significant contributions to Buddhist education and social development.
Born as Thong-yoo Phisaleum on July 25, 1933, in Surin Province, he was ordained at age 20 and went on to become a highly respected scholar-monk. He achieved numerous academic milestones, including a doctorate in Buddhist Studies and being one of the highest-ranked monks in terms of both religious and academic achievements.
