Udon Thani Educational District Director Responds to Alleged Exam Bribery Scandal Involving 300,000 Baht
The educational district director responded to allegations of corruption, expressing surprise at the claims. On January 30, 2024, Phanumat Jitrawasikulkul, owner of the "Hia Piak Help Me" page, submitted documents to internal investigation and legal officers of the Primary Educational Service Area Office 3 in Nong Han District. The complaint alleges potential exam fraud and solicitation of bribes from 200,000-300,000 baht from teacher recruitment exam candidates during a test held on December 20, 2023. Dr. Wichan Ketphet, the district office director, stated that since hearing about the allegations, they have been attempting to investigate the matter to protect the office's reputation. The director outlined three steps of investigation: 1) Collecting proper documentation, 2) Providing verbal explanations to superiors, and 3) Establishing an investigative committee. When directly asked about the bribery claims, he denied any personal involvement, noting he is just two years from retirement and was first hearing about the specific allegations from journalists. The director seemed shocked by the high-figure bribe amount and emphasized his commitment to uncovering the truth behind the accusations.
