Suspect Claims 'Possessed' After Attempted Robbery Turns into Sexual Assault

A 39-year-old backhoe driver named Somchit (nickname 'Nong') was arrested for sexually assaulting a 26-year-old woman after initially attempting to rob her. During police investigation, he claimed to be 'like possessed by a spirit', saying he didn't know what came over him. The incident occurred on February 1st near Khao Chao MaeSakorn area, when Somchit encountered the victim at a gas station and followed her to a deserted area. Initially intending to steal her motorcycle, he allegedly changed his plan and demanded sexual relations. The suspect stated he did not use force and claimed the victim initially consented. After being confronted, he fled the scene and continued working normally, expressing deep regret and apologizing to the victim. Police are continuing their investigation and will pursue legal action.
