Navy Intercepts Cross-Border Drug Trafficking Operation, Arrests 2 Suspects, Seizes 540,000 Methamphetamine Tablets
On February 15, Naval River Patrol Unit (NRPU) in Nakhon Phanom integrated with local security agencies in a proactive law enforcement operation to intercept and disrupt drug trafficking networks along the Mekong border. Officers successfully arrested 2 suspects and seized approximately 540,000 methamphetamine tablets near Road 2034 in Tan Tan Pha Suk Village, Tan Tan Subdistrict, Don Tan District, Mukdahan Province. The arrest resulted from intelligence gathering and patrol operations in the Mekong River area, a strategic route often used by transnational criminal networks to smuggle drugs into Thailand. This operation reflects the Navy's commitment to border security and public safety. After the arrest, officials transferred the suspects and seized drugs to the Mukdahan Naval Station for further legal proceedings. The Navy confirmed its continued commitment to collaborating with all sectors to combat drug trafficking and transnational crime, maintaining order and building sustainable confidence in border areas.
