Election Commission Recounts Votes in Pathum Thani District 7
On February 19, the Election Commission (EC) has decided to recount votes in Pathum Thani's District 7 for both constituency and party-list ballots cast outside the district and abroad. The recount followed protests by students and citizens at Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, who raised concerns about transparency and attempts to prevent observation of the voting process. The recount was conducted with 36 government officials and Pathum Thani EC members ensuring fairness, with observers including media, former candidates, and potential representatives present. During the process, an elderly woman on a motorcycle even arrived and shouted to stop the recount, claiming 'a loss is a loss'. EC Director Sanga Thathong explained that the recount was to address transparency concerns, particularly regarding the camera cover incident, which was a communication misunderstanding aimed at protecting voters' privacy. The process included involving students and public representatives to reduce conflict and increase acceptance of the results.
