Shocking: Suspect Dies in Custody at Cha-am Police Station
On January 30, 2024, Police Sergeant Jirajetsada Pansaeng from Cha-am Police Station reported a shocking incident of a suspect found dead in the holding cell. The deceased, Exsit (last name withheld), 32, was arrested on a court warrant for attempted theft at public places (temples) and nighttime home burglaries.
The suspect was arrested on January 29 and was being held at Cha-am Police Station. Various officials, including the district deputy, prosecutor, and hospital medical staff, inspected the body and found no signs of physical injury.
Around 5:30 AM, the suspect was discovered to have hanged himself before police could intervene. Background checks revealed he was wanted for more than 10 theft cases across Phetchaburi province.
Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect may have been experiencing accumulated stress and felt hopeless due to lack of bail. His body was transferred to Phetchabura Hospital for further forensic examination to determine the exact cause of death.
