Local Hospital Achieves 100% Success Rate in Cancer Surgery
KALASIN — On February 16, 2026, Yang Talat Hospital in northeastern Thailand announced a remarkable achievement in cancer care, reporting a 100% success rate in laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer after comprehensive screening.
The hospital conducted free colonoscopy screenings on 1,222 people since the 2023 fiscal year, identifying 19 colorectal cancer cases. All 19 patients underwent successful laparoscopic surgery and have since returned to normal daily life. Hospital director Dr. Samanmit Attanak emphasized that colorectal cancer ranks among the top three most common cancers in Thailand and highlighted the importance of regular screening and early detection.
The 2026 program targets residents aged 50 and over from Yang Talat district and neighboring districts, with screenings conducted on Fridays and Sundays. The hospital aims to provide standardized cancer screening by trained specialists, reducing travel costs and improving survival rates through early-stage treatment.
