Russian Man Arrested After Assaulting Thai Woman in Pattaya

PATTAYA — On February 11, 2026, a Russian man was detained after allegedly assaulting a Thai woman while heavily intoxicated, with bystanders and tourists intervening to restrain him on Wednesday night, police reported. Police Lieutenant Jittisuk Suthinitthawong from Pattaya City police station said officers were called at 21:15 to an incident outside a shopping center on Pattaya Second Road in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi province. Witnesses reported a drunken foreign man had attacked a Thai woman, leaving her injured. Responding officers found local residents, motorcycle taxi drivers, and tourists restraining the Russian man, estimated to be around 30 years old. He was pinned down and appeared heavily intoxicated, incoherent, and aggressive. With minor abrasions on his face and body, he was taken into custody at the police station. A 20-year-old motorcycle taxi driver, Prawanwit Somanat, witnessed the assault, describing how the Russian man punched a female passenger, knocking her to the ground and causing her head to strike the pavement. Witnesses reported the man had been harassing people in the area and attempting to punch anyone who tried to intervene. A nearby massage shop employee confirmed the man had been drunk and chasing Thai women before bystanders stopped him. Police initially charged him with public intoxication and disorderly conduct, pending a formal complaint from the injured woman.
