Bavornsak Confirms No Global Election Nullification Due to Ballot Barcodes

On Feb 20, Deputy Prime Minister Bavornsak Uwanno posted on his personal Facebook that Thailand has many 'gurus' who widely share opinions. He emphasized that he is not a guru and does not believe in any gurus, instead following Buddha's Kalama Sutra about not blindly believing rumors, logic, texts, or authority figures. Addressing the QR Code and barcode on election ballots, Bavornsak explained that these were introduced by the Election Commission to prevent election fraud. He referenced historical voting practices and noted that secret voting was first implemented in Australia in 1850, then spread to the UK and US to protect voter freedom and prevent undue influence. He highlighted past election manipulation techniques like 'ghost voters' and ballot stuffing, explaining that the QR Code is a mechanism to distinguish genuine ballots from fraudulent ones. Bavornsak stressed that many countries use similar verification methods to ensure election integrity.
