Police Capture 46-Year-Old Man Fleeing Checkpoint After Throwing Methamphetamine
On February 19, Police Major General Pornsak Laorujirali ordered a joint operation to arrest Suthee, 46, after he attempted to evade a checkpoint on Phetchakasem Road in Chumphon Province. When officers signaled the black Toyota Vigo pickup truck to stop, Suthee accelerated and tried to flee, driving erratically to escape capture. During the chase, he threw a white package out of the window, which was later found to contain 3,834 methamphetamine pills in a straw paper wrap. Cornered in a dead-end street, Suthee was arrested. He confessed to recently using drugs and purchasing the pills for 40,000 baht to distribute to a network in Ranong Province's Kraburi District. The new-style pills were marked with a 'hand' symbol and 'PARTY' logo. He was handed over to Chumphon Police Station for further investigation.
