Thai Badminton Team Sets Sail for China to Compete in Asian Team Championships
On February 1, 2024, the Thai national badminton team departed from Suvarnabhumi Airport, heading to Qingdao, China, via China Eastern Airlines flight MU9622 to participate in the important "Badminton Asia Team Championships 2026".
Air Chief Marshal Montol Satchakorn, President of the Badminton Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, traveled to see off the team and provide words of encouragement before the competition begins.
The association has sent a total of 20 athletes, with the team lineup as follows:
Men's Team: Led by "Kan" Kantapon Wangcharoen, "Ikky" Panichphol Theeraratsakul, "Omo" Phakkaphol Theeraratsakul, and "Pee" Peerachai Sukphan, along with rising athletes including "Kimhan" Thanawat Yimjit, "Puri" Puridhach Aree, "Team" Worapol Thongsanga, "Oat" Chalermphol Charoenkit Amorn, "Poon" Thanadol Phanphanich, and "Peem" Pharanyou Khaosamang.
Women's Team: Headed by senior players "Cream" Busanun Ungbamroongphan and "Pink" Phichamol Ophatnipath, joined by "Carrot" Pornpicha Choeykeewong, "Nu Waen" Anchaphat Pichitpreechasak, "Pat" Hathaithip Mijad, "Kutjang" Napapak Tunkasathan, "Wawa" Nattamon Laisuwan, "Boom" Thidaporn Kleeyisun, "Thara" Phattarin Eiamwareesrisakul, and "Nam Wa" Sarisa Chanpaeng.
"Ikky" Panichphol Theeraratsakul and "Coach Phet" Kosit Phetpradub will join the team immediately after completing their mission at the Princess Sirivannavari Thailand Masters 2026. The coaching team includes "Gift" Jongkolphan Kitithrakul, "Coach Dom" Udom Luengpetcharaporn, and Saran Jamsri.
The group draw results are as follows: Men's Team: Thailand is in Group A with China (host) and Macau; Women's Team: Thailand (as defending runners-up) is in Group Y with India (defending champions) and Myanmar.
The Badminton Asia Team Championships 2026 is crucial as it is a points-accumulation tournament for qualifying for the World Team Championships "Thomas & Uber Cup 2026" to be held in Horsens, Denmark in April. Badminton fans are encouraged to cheer on the Thai team to achieve their goals.
