Navy Launches Midnight Raid, Captures Boat Smuggling Untaxed Diesel in Satun Province
Navy Special Operations Command (Sor Chor Lor) in Satun Province conducted a midnight raid on a fishing boat smuggling untaxed diesel. At 1:30 AM on January 30, 2024, Rear Admiral Veerudom Muang-Cheen, Director of Sor Chor Lor Region 3, and Navy Captain Pisit Thongtha, Deputy Director of Satun Province Sor Chor Lor, led a joint operation to prevent and suppress maritime law violations. At 2:45 AM, the operational team inspected a suspicious fishing boat named "Chok Wa Sugree" docked at a temporary pier in Moo 2, Che Bilang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Satun Province. The search revealed approximately 3,000 liters of untaxed diesel fuel stored in modified tanks within the boat. The boat's single operator could not provide tax payment evidence. Officials detained the suspect and seized the evidence, handing them over to the Satun Excise Office to process the case under Excise Act B.E. 2560, Article 204, for "possession of untaxed goods". The suspect confessed and agreed to pay a fine of 111,600 baht. The operation was conducted in accordance with the Prevention and Suppression of Torture Act B.E. 2022 and was recorded at Mueang Satun Police Station. Sor Chor Lor Region 3 remains committed to protecting national maritime interests and ensuring the sustainable security of Andaman Sea resources.
