Forest Fires Erupt at Thailand-Cambodia Border in 7 Locations, Closest Only 500 Meters Away
On February 20, border protection forces reported 7 forest fire hotspots along the Thailand-Cambodia border. In Ubon Ratchathani, a fire was detected 1.5 kilometers south of the Thai border at Chan Anma. In Si Sa Ket, 3 fire locations were identified, including one just 500 meters from the border south of Sattalosom Mountain and near Dontrual Prasat. Surin province recorded 3 fire points, including locations 500 meters and 2.5 kilometers from the border. The primary causes of these fires are believed to be land preparation for agriculture, habitat creation, hunting, and forest foraging. Although most fire points are on the Cambodian side, authorities are closely monitoring the situation due to the proximity to the Thai border.
