Police and Election Commission Raid and Arrest 6 Suspects for Vote Buying in Surat Thani

On February 7, 2024, investigative police teams from Khun Thale Police Station and Surat Thani Provincial Police received a tip from a concerned citizen about a gathering at a house in Moo 3, Thung Rang Subdistrict, Kanchanadit District, Surat Thani. The teams, accompanied by Election Commission officials, raided the location and found 6 suspects - 5 men and 1 woman named Supatra, Montien, Jiradech, Suchao, Suchen, and Sap Sopha. During the investigation, they discovered voter lists with 21 pages of names, addresses, and phone numbers. The suspects admitted that political party representatives had contacted them to survey and buy votes at 1,000 baht per person for a specific election candidate. All 6 suspects were taken to Khun Thale Police Station for further legal proceedings.
