Men's Futsal Team Narrowly Beats Vietnam, Secures Group Championship and Advances to Top 8 in Asia
The Thai national futsal team fought hard and narrowly defeated Vietnam, securing a perfect 9 points from three consecutive wins and claiming the group championship to advance to the final 8 teams in the Asian Futsal Championship.
The tournament is taking place in Indonesia on January 31st at the Indonesia Arena. The Thai team, having won two previous matches and already confirmed their spot in the top 8, played their final group B match against Vietnam, another ASEAN team with two previous victories. This match would determine the group champion.
Coach Rakspol Sainetrngam started with five players: Arut Senbat, Worasak Srirangpirote, Ittticha Prapaphan, Narongsakdi Wingworn, and Terdsak Charoenphong.
The match was tightly contested, with both teams creating chances. The breakthrough came in the 35th minute when Krit Aranyasanyalak scored, giving Thailand a 1-0 lead. Despite Vietnam's power play attempts, Thailand held on to win and secure the group title with 9 points, while Vietnam finished second with 6 points.
In their next match, the Thai futsal team will compete in the Asian Futsal Championship 2026 quarter-finals against the Group B runners-up on February 3rd at 3:00 PM, which will be live-streamed on YouTube: BG Sports.
