GISTDA Detects 931 Hotspots in Thailand, Cambodia Sees 3,300 Hotspots

On February 16, 2024, the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) reported hotspot data from the Suomi NPP satellite's VIIRS system. A total of 931 hotspots were detected in Thailand, including 418 in national forest reserves, 152 in conservation areas, 135 in agricultural development areas, 122 in agricultural zones, and 93 in community and other areas. Neighboring countries showed higher hotspot counts, with Cambodia at 3,351, Myanmar at 2,918, Laos at 1,135, Vietnam at 277, and Malaysia at 7 hotspots.
