New Trend by Chinese Sisters: 'Gold Nail Art' Made with Real Gold to Attract Wealth
A viral new trend is sweeping China, especially as the Chinese New Year approaches: gold nail art made by separating and decorating nails with actual gold jewelry. One woman used over 6 grams of gold worth around 10,000 yuan (approximately 45,000 baht), paying an additional 1,200 yuan (about 5,300 baht) to have a nail artist create an intricate gold collage design.
Chinese newspapers report that gold purchasing demand increases near the Chinese New Year, particularly for smaller gold pieces. Following previous trends like gold mobile phone stickers and gold-decorated red envelopes in 2025, gold nail art has emerged as a hot new spending style for younger generations.
Nail artists report that some clients bring gold jewelry worth up to 40,000 yuan (around 180,000 baht) to be transformed, with service fees ranging from 600-1,500 yuan (2,500-7,000 baht). The gold can typically stay attached for about a month, though artists warn they aren't responsible if pieces fall off.
