16 Chinese Scam Suspects Arrested After Illegal Border Crossing from Cambodia
A joint border patrol in Sa Kaeo province arrested 16 Chinese nationals (15 men and one woman) who illegally entered Thailand through a natural border crossing in Aranyaprathet district. The suspects were intercepted between border markers 72 and 73 near Ban Khlong Wa Mai, with no valid travel documents. During the search, authorities found 266 mobile phones and one notebook computer. Through an interpreter, the suspects revealed they had previously worked as administrators for online scam pages in Poipet, Cambodia, and were attempting to return to China via Thailand. They had hired a Cambodian broker to transport them across the border at a cost of 3,500 baht per person. All 16 suspects were taken to Ranger Company 1305 and subsequently handed over to Khlong Nam Sai Police Station for further legal proceedings.
