Myanmar Woman and Chinese Husband Arrested for Selling Fake Shampoo and Toothpaste Online
On February 4th, 2024, police officers from the Intellectual Property Department, led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Thassanaphum Jarupratch, conducted a raid and arrested Mrs. Sank, a Myanmar national, for selling counterfeit branded products. The operation targeted a warehouse in Samut Sakhon province, where over 200,000 fake hair care products, shampoos, and toothpastes were seized. The suspect was operating with her Chinese husband, selling counterfeit goods through online platforms at prices significantly lower than market rates. The investigation began after representatives from the original trademark owners filed a complaint. Mrs. Sank admitted to managing the warehouse and owning the counterfeit goods, and was subsequently handed over to investigators for further legal proceedings.
