Tracking Motorcycle Theft Ring: Laotian Network Caught Stealing and Smuggling 20 Bikes in One Month

On February 18, senior police officers from Ubon Ratchathani, including Deputy Police Commander Buraphat Bureepakdee, announced the arrest of Kaen, a 25-year-old from Pakse, Champasak Province, Laos. The suspect was caught with a stolen gray-black Honda Wave motorcycle with license plate 2 กน 8983. Police investigations revealed that the Laotian theft ring had stolen over 20 motorcycles from dormitories and communities in Ubon Ratchathani district within one month. The thieves specifically targeted unlocked motorcycles and those with keys left in the ignition. Kaen confessed to being paid to steal motorcycles, selling each bike for 3,000 baht across the Mekong River to fellow accomplices in Laos. Police have charged him with theft and are continuing to investigate the broader criminal network.
