Phra Mongkol Sutthikun, also known as Luang Por Lamyai Piyawanno, was a famous monk from Thung Lat Ya Temple in Lat Ya Subdistrict, Mueang District, Kanchanaburi. Born on March 18, 1925, he became a novice monk on July 15, 1944, and was fully ordained on July 5, 1946. Throughout his 60-year monastic life, he was dedicated to education, community development, and social welfare. He established over 200 temples, built more than 10 schools, constructed 20 healthcare facilities, and created public infrastructure like water systems and bridges. His remarkable contributions earned him numerous honors, including the Royal Dharma Wheel Award from Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and a ecclesiastical title of Phra Mongkol Sittikun in 1996.
