Villagers Flee for Their Lives as Myanmar Soldiers Clash with Resistance Fighters, Bullets Nearly Hit 8-Year-Old Child
Mae Sot villagers frantically fled for their lives as machine gun bullets pierced homes, narrowly missing an 8-year-old girl after Myanmar soldiers launched an attack against resistance fighters. The incident occurred at 12:30 PM on February 11, 2024, with intense fighting erupting along the Thai-Myanmar border. Myanmar military's Light Infantry Division 22, consisting of several hundred soldiers with heavy weapons, attacked resistance fighter positions in several border villages.
The Myanmar military deployed numerous suicide drones to drop bombs on resistance strongholds, followed by sustained heavy weapon fire that echoed across the border for hours. Resistance fighters responded with multiple machine gun positions, creating visible smoke and explosion fragments clearly visible from Mae Sot district in Tak province.
Stray bullets crossed the border, with one bullet penetrating a bathroom roof near an elderly resident's home, narrowly missing his 8-year-old daughter. Local authorities immediately ordered residents in high-risk areas to seek safe shelter as the conflict intensified.
Latest reports suggest the Myanmar military is preparing a decisive operation to reclaim territories, potentially involving air strikes and ground attacks, causing several border families to begin evacuating to safer areas.
