Myanmar National Arrested for Stealing Tourist's Bag at Resort to Buy Drugs

On February 20, 2024, Police Major Charoenchai Boonkliang from Surat Thani Provincial Police, along with special operations officers, arrested Soe Naing OO, a 34-year-old Myanmar national suspected of theft and drug use. The incident began on February 8 when a resort staff member reported a tourist's bag had been stolen from a resort in Koh Phangan. After reviewing CCTV footage, police identified the suspect and tracked him down. During questioning, Soe Naing OO confessed to stealing the bag and using the proceeds to buy methamphetamine. A drug test confirmed he was under the influence, and he was handed over to Koh Phangan police for further legal proceedings.
