Food Delivery Rider Rejected by Customer for Not Wearing Uniform
A food delivery rider was denied food delivery and told to pay for the order himself after arriving without a company uniform, creating a heated online discussion. The incident was shared on the Facebook page Rider Grab Phuket Go Go, detailing how the rider was delivering an order in the Saiyuan area but was refused service due to not wearing the company uniform.
The rider explained that upon arriving and confirming his identity through the app, the customer immediately questioned his lack of uniform and expressed safety concerns. Despite the rider showing that his app profile picture matched his actual appearance and confirming he was 18 years old and met work conditions, the customer refused the delivery.
Ultimately, the customer suggested the rider should cover the food cost and walked away, forcing the rider to absorb the expense. The rider noted that what hurt most wasn't the money or food, but the demeaning language and tone, especially after traveling a long distance from the city to the Raiyai area.
After the post was published, many social media users commented, mostly sympathizing with the rider and criticizing the treatment as inappropriate. Some argued that the customer's safety concerns highlighted the need for clearer platform guidelines about rider identification to prevent similar incidents in the future.
