Chinese Woman Devastated by Home Burglary, Discovers Best Friend is the Thief
Huang, a woman from Hunan province, China, faced a traumatic experience after multiple home burglaries. She immediately called her best friend to cry and share her distress, unaware that the perpetrator was closer than she thought. Huang reported to police that several hundred thousand yuan in cash and a gold bracelet had been stolen from her home safe. Police quickly investigated and traced the crime to her friend Peng, who was arrested in Zhuhai, Guangdong province on December 17, 2025. During investigation, Peng confessed to the theft, admitting he knew about the cash in the safe and exploited their friendship to access the home. He first stole in late September 2025 when Huang's family was away, taking a gold bracelet and some cash. In December, he tricked Huang into leaving the house and stole hundreds of thousands of yuan more. To create an alibi, he even sent fake photos of himself in Macau via WeChat. Police eventually recovered over 300,000 yuan, and Peng is currently in custody facing theft charges.
