At 01:51 AM on February 21, 2024, Police Lieutenant Chularp Pliddok received a report of teenagers being chased and shot at on a dustless road near an irrigation canal in Tha Raeng Subdistrict, Ban Laem District, Phetchaburi Province. At the scene, which was dark and isolated, police found a fallen Honda motorcycle with blood stains and a bullet hole in its frame. Nine bullet casings from 11mm and 9mm weapons were scattered on the road. According to Supachai, 21, the group had been out at an entertainment venue before returning home. At around 01:45 AM, they were riding motorcycles when a white Isuzu pickup truck intercepted the first motorcycle. The occupants of the truck opened fire on the riders, killing an 18-year-old driver and seriously wounding another passenger. The attackers then turned back to shoot at the other motorcyclists, forcing them to abandon their vehicles and hide in nearby fields. The motive appears to be a long-standing personal conflict from years ago, involving previous arguments and provocative messages between the victim and his rivals. Police are investigating the incident and will summon witnesses for further questioning to identify and prosecute the perpetrators.
