Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization Launches '7th Green Schools' Campaign to Revolutionize Environment Through Youth Power
Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) held a major press conference to launch the 7th 'Green & Clean Schools' environmental education project under the 'Clean Canals' initiative. The project aims to elevate environmental management from pollution treatment to creating environmentally conscious citizens, focusing on youth participation in sustainable global warming solutions. Deputy Governor Issaya Sathonsantikul revealed that the Nonthaburi PAO is systematically addressing environmental issues, with a key mission of building strong sanitation foundations. They have recently initiated a wastewater collection and treatment system project covering four municipalities, using underground pipe techniques to minimize public disruption. The system will be capable of treating 10,000 cubic meters of wastewater daily and is expected to be operational by 2028, aimed at restoring water quality in major canals. The organization has set concrete greenhouse gas reduction targets, aiming to decrease emissions by 12.21% by 2030 through six key mechanisms including increasing green spaces, comprehensive waste management, and building strong youth networks. The project includes an environmental education competition with over 2,000 student participants and the selection of 20 model schools. An exhibition on February 7-8 will showcase works and ideas from over 60 schools under the concept 'Think Together, Act Together, Change Together for the Sustainability of Thailand and Our World'.
