4 Rising Thai Windsurfing Stars Prepare for Asian Beach Games, Acknowledging Age Disadvantage
Four young Thai windsurfing stars are preparing for the Asian Beach Games, acknowledging their age disadvantage in the under-21 category while each athlete is just 16-17 years old. Pattana Boonswasdi, the association's leader, has instructed coaching staff to intensify technical training and conduct thorough competitor research. The Thai Windsurfing Association is sending five athletes to train in Haikou, China, from January 19 to February 10, 2024. The team includes Nitiphat Chaiyawuthivet in the general male IQ Foil category and four rising stars: Wachirawit Thonup and Ratchanon Khunjeng in the male youth IQ Foil, and Chanatkarn Charoensuks and Wannida Wintachai in the female youth IQ Foil. During training, the athletes practiced with competitors from China, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, showing significant improvement in handling diverse sea conditions. The 6th Asian Beach Games will take place from April 22-30, 2024, competing for two gold medals in under-21 male and female IQ Foil categories.
