Cabinet Approves Contract Amendment for M6 Motorway, Allows Early Payments to Private Contractors
Lallida Pherissawiwattana, Deputy Government Spokesperson, revealed that the Cabinet approved the Ministry of Transport's proposal to modify the public-private partnership (PPP) contract for the M6 Motorway project between Bang Pa-in and Nakhon Ratchasima, spanning approximately 196 kilometers. The original project faced construction challenges, causing a 25-month delay in site handover. Under the new terms, the Department of Highways can now pay private contractors for partially completed system work before the service launch, calculated at approximately 128.55 million baht. The contract amendment does not constitute additional damages but rather adjusts payment timing to maintain the project's financial stability, with the private contractor agreeing not to seek further compensation.
