State Railway Board Approves 2,850 Million Baht for New Track Maintenance Vehicles
The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) board has approved the acquisition of new track maintenance vehicles to replace deteriorated existing equipment. The goal is to enhance maintenance capabilities and improve safety standards for the expanding dual-track and new railway networks nationwide. Anant Pho-nimdaeng, Acting Governor of the State Railway of Thailand, revealed after the board meeting that the approval includes acquiring new heavy maintenance machinery to replace old equipment that has been in use for 20-40 years. The new vehicles will be deployed across six major maintenance centers, including Bangkok, Taphan Hin, Kaeng Khoi, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chumphon, and Hat Yai Junction. The procurement includes 10 utility track vehicles, 4 continuous tamping machines, 2 ballast regulators, 5 ballast stabilizer machines, and 2 ballast cleaning vehicles. The total investment is 2,850,982,900 baht, with the ultimate goal of ensuring track stability, timely train operations, and enhanced passenger safety.
