Police Disguised as Lion Dance Team Arrest Thief Who Confesses to Stealing for Drugs
On February 19, 2024, police led by high-ranking officers conducted an undercover operation to arrest Adisak, aka 'Jojo', a 33-year-old suspect wanted for theft and breaking and entering. The arrest took place at a temple in Sai Noi District, Nonthaburi Province. The suspect was wanted for a series of thefts, including stealing valuable amulets and Buddha statues worth approximately 2 million baht from a police officer's home. After multiple failed attempts to catch the suspect, police devised a plan to disguise themselves as a lion dance team at a temple event. A criminal history check revealed the suspect had been involved in 9 criminal cases since 2562 (2019), including two drug-related arrests and multiple theft incidents. During interrogation, Adisak confessed that he had been homeless since age 11, was addicted to drugs, never attended school, and did not have an ID card. The suspect was handed over to Prachaniwet Police Station for legal processing and further investigation to recover stolen property.
