SEC Charges Bitazza Global and Bitazza for Unauthorized Digital Asset Trading
On February 20, 2026, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced charges against Bitazza International Limited (Bitazza Global) and Bitazza Company, along with executives Kawin Pongpanthadesha (former CEO) and Thanawat Sutantivorkun (current CEO). The charges were filed with the Economic Crime Suppression Division for operating a digital asset trading center without authorization, violating the Digital Asset Business Decree of 2018. The SEC discovered that Bitazza Global and Bitazza (licensed as a digital asset broker) were providing trading platforms with fees, promoting services through Thai-language social media, and specifically targeting customers in Thailand. The platform allowed customer sign-ups without additional identity verification and provided critical systems support. The actions are considered a violation of digital asset business regulations, potentially facing criminal penalties. The SEC emphasized that this charging process is just the initial step, with further investigation and legal proceedings to be conducted by relevant authorities. Additionally, the SEC has forwarded Bitazza Global's website information to the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to block platform access.
