Funeral Worker Reveals Suspicious Circumstances Before Cremating Soldier Phetrat, Finds Spoon in Remains
A funeral worker revealed suspicious circumstances surrounding the cremation of Private Phetrat Kamlang Ying, a 22-year-old soldier from the 2nd Royal Guard Artillery Regiment based in Prachinburi. He died on November 11, 2023, at the Army Camp Hospital and was sent for autopsy at Chao Phraya Abhai Bhubejhr Hospital before cremation at Samakkhi Samoson Temple in Wang Dan, Kabinburi District, Prachinburi Province. On November 16, 2023, during bone collection, relatives discovered a short spoon mixed in with the remains. Suspicious about the circumstances of death, they contacted the military unit for details but received no response. They have since filed a complaint with a People's Party representative seeking justice. Sitthiporn, the 39-year-old funeral worker who cremated the body, reported finding the spoon inside the crematorium. He emphasized that he thoroughly checked the body before cremation and did not notice the spoon earlier. Kong Phob, the victim's brother-in-law, expressed confusion about the cause of death. The autopsy report cited an enlarged heart muscle as the cause, but the family questions how this could have happened to a young, seemingly healthy soldier who had been disciplined for returning to camp late.
