Rybakina Edges Out Sabalenka to Claim Australian Open Women's Singles Title
Elena Rybakina unlocked her first major championship in nearly 4 years after successfully defeating world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the Australian Open women's singles final.
The first Grand Slam tournament of the year saw world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus facing Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan. In the opening set, Rybakina performed better and won 6-4, taking a 1-0 set lead. However, Sabalenka fought back in the second set, also winning 6-4 to level the match at 1-1.
The decisive third set saw Rybakina emerge victorious, winning 6-4 and clinching the match 2-1 with set scores of 6-4, 4-6, and 6-4. This marks her first major championship since winning Wimbledon in 2022.
